CMS Student Cleared Of Rape

Rape Charges have been dropped beside a Charlotte-Mecklenburg School student, and star football player. The District Attorney determined that the sexual intercourse between 17-year old Osvaldo Sombo and a 17-year old girl, who made the accusation was consensual.

Sombo's Attorney Brad Smith said he found out about the charge being dropped late Tuesday afternoon. "The case is done, the D-A said they found insufficient evidence. It was consensual all along. He's been vindicated, like we know he would all along."

Rape charges were filed against Sombo back in early August, stemming from an occurrence in July. CMS kicked Sombo out of Butler High School until the charge could be resolved. The District knew about the accusations, but, didn't do something about it until days later. CMS Superintendent Dr. Peter Gorman prepared changes to policy afterward.
