The rape test of Ricky Franklin did not begin Monday in Hinds County Court. The Hinds County District Attorney's office asked for persistence after his alleged victim was shot in the leg last Tuesday morning. The 38-year-old man is charged with the Nov. 7, 2009, forcible rape, sexual battery, kidnapping and motivated assault. As WLBT News reported, Franklin supposedly picked up the 21-year-old woman and promised her a fun time at a Bolton night club.
Sources told us she was then taken to a home in pastoral Hinds County. FBI agents assisted in the investigation. Teams of agents wore his home and a Ford pickup truck. He pleaded not culpable and remains in jail on $300,000 bond. Franklin has long been eyed as a person of interest in the cold case, vanishing and murder of 5 women in the 1990's. Most of them were recognized prostitutes and drug users.
